Embracing Growth by Letting Go

“Brothers and sisters, I do not consider myself yet to have taken hold of it. But one thing I do: Forgetting what is behind and straining toward what is ahead, I press on toward the goal to win the prize for which God has called me heavenward in Christ Jesus.”
Philippians 3:13–14 (NIV)

Learning to Let Go

Growth requires letting go. That isn’t just a nice phrase, it’s something I’ve had to learn through experience, and honestly, I’m still figuring it out.

I’ve built things from scratch. I’ve put in the hours. I’ve created products, launched businesses, and crossed finish lines in long-distance races. I’ve achieved goals that mattered to me. But over time, I’ve learned that effort alone won’t carry everything. Embracing growth by letting go of control has often been just as important as showing up.

Shifting Focus

The most important parts of my life aren’t the wins or the numbers. It’s my walk with God. It’s my family. It’s the peace that comes when I stop trying to hold everything together myself. That shift in focus has changed how I approach both business and life.

Letting go doesn’t mean giving up, it means being honest about what’s actually yours to carry. I still work hard. I still believe in doing things well. But I also believe there’s more at play than just hustle. Sometimes things come together because someone greater is helping behind the scenes. I don’t believe it’s coincidence or luck. I believe God honors the work when it’s paired with faith and trust.

Finding Strength in Surrender

When I’ve tried to do too much or control every piece, it usually leaves me drained. But when I step back, remove distractions, and focus on what matters, that’s when I see real growth.

If you find yourself overwhelmed or pulled in too many directions, take a moment. Ask what you need to let go of. Focus on what matters most and trust that you’re not building alone.

Keep showing up. Keep moving forward. But make space for the help you can’t see and the grace you didn’t earn. That’s where true growth begins, in the simple act of embracing growth by letting go.
